These ultrasound pictures are our first glimpse of the little one. He/she
measures exactly 1.02cm and that puts Barb at 7 weeks. We could see quite a strong
heartbeat at this time. It was exciting. Barb's due date will be June 29,
1999.
We go back to the doctor again in a month.
Expect an update at that time!

This picture show two 'x' that mark each end of our
embryo. At the bottom of the picture you can see that it measures at 1.02cm and
growing fast! |

This picture was taken just to see the embryo.
It is the mass to the left of the black area shaped like a kidney bean. The
round spot on the bottom of the mass is the yolk sac. |
Mom is doing better now. She had a short bout with
nausea (without vomiting)
for about 3 weeks. Aside from being fatigued she looks terrific! I have never seen a
more beautiful pregnant woman. She is not showing very much at all, but she sure
feels like she is. Time is just really passing quickly, we are picking out a crib
soon and painting the baby's room. Barb's sister has given us so many clothes I
can't see how we will need anything more (although Barb set me straight on that one). |

This is our baby at 13 weeks! You can already see eye sockets,
arms and a belly. Mom is not showing yet, but has felt some baby movement. Dad
has not felt the baby move yet.
|

This is a great side view of the little one. Hard to imagine
this is the same baby in the pics above. It truly is a miracle.
|
Mom and Dad went to the doctor today! Barb's appt. got bumped to
today from last Wed. because our doctor was delivering a baby at our first appt!
Guess that baby couldn't help it, right? Barb is doing so great. She feels
good, no swelling, sleeping pretty well, and looks great! We will have to maybe get
a pic of her up here soon. The baby is moving so much now that Barb is sometimes
zoning it out. I am very excited about this movement, but still have not been able
to feel him/her move. I keep trying. Barb is 20 weeks now and is definitely
showing. On to the baby pictures.... |

|

|
This photo is a great
picture of the baby's face! In this one you can see 1)eye sockets, 2)little mouth
and chin, and just below the eye socket you can see his/hers nasal cavity. |
This photo was pretty
important to see the development of our baby's spinal cord. Notice how all the ribs
are very parallel and straight, this is a good indication that the disorder spinal bifida
is not present! Whew... |

|
This is a photo of
the baby's femur. The doctor used this measurement as another determination of our
baby's growth. He/she measured right in at 20 weeks. So far we are right on
schedule. |
This will be the last 'official' ultrasound until the
little one is
born. I am sure that Barb will be having a few more done at work as she can talk
someone into doing them on her. Otherwise the next posting to this page will be the
first pictures of the little one in the real world! We will keep you posted.

4/15/99 Barb just had to see the baby once more
before he/she is born. The ultrasound was done at 30 weeks. She was sure to
only see the face, nothing more!! Isn't he/she cute!! That white circle in eye
is the lens. It looks as if he/she is waving at you. For those of you that
have trouble seeing this, the head is right in the middle of the pic, the large dark area
is the brain and the circle below that area is the eye, nose, and mouth
(open).

Couldn't let Barb get away with no picture of her during this
wonderful process. This is barb at 30 weeks. To date all lab work
and doctors
visits have been normal.

6/8/99 We just had our last birthing class. We
learned many new things about the whole experience besides just the breathing. I am
skeptical that all the techniques will work as I am sure the pain is much more than we can
even imagine. It has got to be hard to concentrate on anything with that much pain.
Barb wants to hold out as long as she can without drugs or an epidural, but will
ask for them if the pain is too much. The next update will be pictures of our new
born baby!!! |
